To celebrate 75 seasons of Coastal cricket this year, Cricket North West will be honouring the greats of our game by naming its Teams of the Decades.
The guidelines were pretty simple – to qualify for consideration in a team: a player had to have played at least three full seasons of NWTCA/CNW cricket in the relevant decade and statistics in the relevant decade only were considered.
Squads were formed, aggregates and averages analyzed, and criteria indicated above were applied.
Teams were then selected with a balance of batsmen and bowlers (and of course, a wicket-keeper), as if the Decade Team was to walk out on the ground for a game.
As a result of the criteria applied, some top tier players may not be included in a Team of the Decade or they may have played over the end of one decade and the start of the next, resulting in them unfortunately missing out. For these players, including some Hall of Fame members, their achievements are not in any way diminished.
