Article Below

Thanks to Clubs for their attendance and engagement in recent CNW 2025/26 Female Pre-Season Meeting. It was terrific to have a strong number of attendees and to have conversations with people who are so passionate about the growth and betterment of Female Cricket in the region.

Following on from the meeting, please find attached the slide deck and document which was presented throughout the meeting. It contains the information about Cricket Tasmania programs, as well as Women’s 1st Grade, Women’s 2nd Grade and Social League and Cricket Tasmania Support.

Below are some actions to be worked through in the coming period:

  • CT Programs – Clubs to review dates for CT programs and provide these dates to key Female cricket players and stakeholders at their Clubs. If Clubs wish to be involved, please advise as we would love to have as many Clubs involved as possible.

  • CN Women’s Second Grade and Women’s Social League – Given the positive feedback regarding the plans to restructure these competitions for the 2025/26 season planning we proceed as outlined in the slide deck with some key updates outlined below:

    • Competition Names - Women’s 2nd Grade (formally Female Development League) and Women’s Social League with teams for each competition to be confirmed following the next CNW Board Meeting.
    • Bowling – Players will be required to bowl with a straight arm, and no intentional throwing will be allowed.
    • Ball – Women’s 2nd Grade will use 4-piece White 142g ball and Women’s Social League will use the same ball as last season. Clubs will be required to buy these balls themselves with no ball being supplied by CT as has been done in previous years.
    • Eligibility Rules – any player who has played 15 or more games in Women’s 1st Grade will require an exemption. Exemptions can be requested by clubs to the CNW Board.

Further information will be provided to Clubs in due course, including roster dates, team nominations and any rule changes. Please do reach out if there are any questions in the short term.

CNW Women’s 1st Grade – @Mitchell Jones will upload the Women’s 1st Grade roster to PlayHQ on finalisation. As discussed, games will be rostered for Saturday afternoons however if participating Clubs and councils/curators are agreeable to change specific games they can contact the CNW Board to seek permission to do so.

CNW Women’s and Girls Representative Cricket – Dates for the games are included within the slide-deck attached. CNW Board will further discuss the possibility of any additional internal representative matches and will also discuss how the process will work for player nominations for these games. Junior games will run alongside the Senior games and further detail around nominations will also be communicated to clubs in due course.

Cricket Tasmania Funding and Support – Clubs are asked to review the funding and upskill opportunities and reach out to CT (Ryan Kelly or Josh Marshall) if you want to discuss further or if you have any questions.
