Congratulations to the Ulverstone District Cricket Club Inc who on Saturday took home the 2023/24 Cricket North West 1st Grade Two Day Premiership.
Day 1 on Friday seen the Burnie Hurricanes bat first, Ulverstone's Matthew Varner didn't take long to impact the game causing havoc with his first two balls of the game being wickets.
Burnie would look to pull them self out of an early hole which had them rocked at 3-5 after the first 2 overs. Burnie's Tyler Parker showing the best resistance with 35 runs off 129 balls.
Ulverstone then proceeded to surpass Burnie's first innings score posting 221 runs thanks to 51 from Jordan Kelly and 45 from Toby Hutton. The Burnie Hurricanes top bowler was Kurt Lamprey with 3-47.
Ulverstone then put a full stop on any chance of a Burnie comeback after bowling them out for 76 in the second innings with 4-6 going to Ryan George.
Matthew Varner was awarded man of the match after taking 4-16 and making 24 runs off 164 balls with the bat in the first innings and taking a further 1-19 in the second innings. helping Ulverstone District Cricket Club Inc to an impressive innings and 47 run win.
